According to the South China Morning Post website in Hong Kong on December 26, China is ready to supply COVID-19 vaccines to African countries, It’s expected that Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa will become a logistics hub and Egypt and Morocco will be manufacture hubs
Beijing is building a logistics network that will include a cold-chain air route from Shenzhen to Ethiopia, the report said. The route is characterized by ultra-low temperatures, which will make it possible to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to Africa, the report said. Goods can be transported twice a week from Shenzhen to Africa and then to other countries via Addis Ababa. Ethiopian capital was also recently used in March of last year as a base of supply of over 5.4 million face masks that were distributed to various African nations, a donation from Ma's Foundation.
Similarly, Shenzhen-based logistics companies China International Shipping Containers and SF Express have set up facilities to allow vaccines and medicines to be transported to other countries .Egypt has received two batches of COVID-19 vaccine, a total of 100,000 doses, transported through the United Arab Emirates and made by Sinopac, the report said.
Wu Peng, Director-general of the African Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry tweeted: "China will actively consider providing vaccines to other African countries in need to help ensure an early victory against the epidemic."
