My full name is George Kwame Agbanyo, you can also call me 罗兰 and I am from the beautiful west-African coastal country of Ghana. I came to China a decade ago. After a year of Chinese language and my masters’ degree in the Zhejiang University of Technology, I proceeded with PhD, and I am currently about to graduate with a doctorate degree in Economics, international trade specialty. My researches mostly focus on Foreign Direct Investment, One Belt One Road Initiative and relations between China and Africa. 

  My final dissertation is on the effect analysis of Foreign Direct Investment in Africa. I am researching about how Foreign aid, especially from China to Africa can be a win-win situation and benefit both parties. The initiative has the potential to completely transform the world economy for the better.These thoughts have been calved by the many conferences I attended. Thanks be to my supervisor who often invite many well established professors and even world renown prix nobles or conferences, I am confident of a rich academic background and grateful for the my experience in ZJUT. 

   In course of my academic work, I also participated in so many extra-curricular and social activities in the school. However, what impresses me the most about all the years I spent in ZJUT is the uncountable friends I made. I am so proud I have met people from all the four corners of the world.  People with whom we studied together, worked together, played together and lived together for many years.

I was privileged to participate in all kinds of activities organized by the college, the University, the Province and even at the national level. To begin with I was a CSC scholarship student for my master’s education and the provincial scholarship for the PhD. For many years I served as a volunteer at the international college and I helped with registration at the beginning of each semester. For many times I participated in the Zhejiang dream trip where I learnt much about the Chinese culture. Thanks to my acting talents, I represented the school in many capacities like dancing, drama, acting and singing. I believe it this has been one of the most memorable moments of my life in ZJUT. I also participated in the Talk show competition organized by the international college of which I won the first price.

The most remarkable moment for me is when I was given the opportunity to do my internship as a teacher in the university. What a great honor to give back to the University that has invested so much in me. I will forever be grateful. May I use the opportunity to thank all the wonderful teachers transforming lives at the ZJUT international college both in Zhaohui and Pingfeng campus.

Time might not permit me to mention all the names and I will be wrong to mention some names and leave out some, so I would like to say a big thank you to the teachers of the international exchange center of the Zhejiang University of Technology. I also want appreciate the teachers of the school of economics. I believe the tasks of taking care of foreign students in not an easy one. Zhejiang University of Technology, you are my ALMA MATER and you will forever hold a central part in my heart.
