1.International Economics & Trade

To meet the diverse needs of its international students, SHOU has adjusted the curriculum of popular major, International Economics & Trade, allowing those with no background in Chinese to complete the Chinese Preparatory Courses and Bachelor Degree Major Courses within a 4-year period. In their first academic year, students will be immersed in intensive Chinese study, and over the following 3 years will focus primarily on their major specific academic courses.

3 years Major Study

Requirements:     Pass HSK 4 (Above 180) before Major Study

 A major in International Economics & Trade prepares students to play a leading role in Chinese trade and investment activities throughout the global economy. Upon graduation, students will possess proficient Chinese language, computer skills, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of Chinese business culture, practices, and rules. Students will be able to engage in international trade, international investment, and work in related fields.

 

China-Australia Double-Degree Bachelor Programs

(AIEN Institute)

Based on the principle of complementary cooperation and mutual development, AIEN Institute was jointly established by the Shanghai Ocean University and University of Tasmania, Australia in 2002. The Institute now offers two programs, Bachelor of Information Management & Information Systems and Bachelor of Marketing, which were authorized by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission in 2002 and 2003. Students come to study at our SHOU campus. Upon graduation, graduates will have 2 bachelor degrees issued by Shanghai Ocean University and University of Tasmania, Australia respectively.

 Currently AIEN has more than 1500 students. Every year the employment rate for AIEN graduates is as high as 96%, with 10% employed by the world’s top F500 enterprises. Among the 25% of graduates seeking advanced degrees abroad, over 30% of them have been admitted by the world’s top universities.

 Course Structure: 1 year intensive English and Chinese Preparatory courses

3 years academic study

Requirements:  Students must pass IELTS 6.0 or equivalent after one semester to start the academic study.

 

2.Bachelor of Information Management & Information Systems (BIS)

The courses cover advanced information technology, information system, information management, business management, business logistics, and environment science. Equipped with English proficiency and expertise in analysis, modeling and development in information system, the graduates are prepared to be highly-qualified professionals in the relevant fields. Upon graduation, students can be readily employable for a professional job or pursue further study in well-known higher education institute. 

3 .Bachelor of Marketing (BBus)

The courses cover advanced marketing theory, marketing expertise, commerce, business management, finance and economics.The students are equipped with English proficiency and professional competence. Upon completing the program, graduates can be readily employable for a professional job or pursue further study in well-known higher education institute.

Major：Aquaculture

Aquaculture major established in 1921, relying on the advantages of a long-standing aquaculture discipline, has the world-class faculty and obtained A-plus in the fourth national discipline assessment. In 2017, it was included in the national Double-First-Class discipline construction projects. It deals with the sustainable development and cultivation of aquatic biological resources and water ecological protection. Students will be trained with a global vision, innovative thinking and practical ability of excellence. Graduates have strong advantage in finding research positions in related field.

 

College of Marine Science

Major: Fishing Science

Program Language: English or Chinese

The college of Marine science is founded in 1912. Fishing Science mainly studies fish behavior and fishery information technology to provide technical support for scientific exploitation of aquatic biological resources. In 2017, it was included in the national Double-First-Class discipline construction projects. Now the college connects the forefront of international research, focusing on serving the sustainable development of deep-sea fishery, cultivating talents with an international perspective in the combination of basic Marine fishery research and applied research.

Major: Food Science and Technology

Program Language: English or Chinese

Food Science and Technology major was established in 1912. It is the first food processing major in China. Fruitful results have been achieved in scientific research and related aspects. The program is in line with international standards. In 2015 and 2019, it passed the IFT standard certification twice, which means that students' learning credits can be recognized by internationally renowned universities. Students trained by this discipline have broad basic knowledge, international vision and innovative consciousness, and can be engaged in scientific research, engineering design, production management, logistics and transportation, quality control, operation management role, as well as education and teaching in the food industry and related fields.

Fishery Economics is supported by economic science, management science and aquatic science, guided by the principles and methods of economics and management, revealing the special economics and management laws in the fishery sector and its microeconomics entities. After years of accumulation and precipitation, it has formed distinctive features in fishery economic theory and policies, fishery resources and environmental economy, aquatic product market and trade, and fishing village development. Graduates can enter aquatic product companies and engage in aquaculture, marketing and planning management, feed and fishery medicine production and operation, aquatic technology promotion, aquatic product development and sales, etc.

Applicant Eligibility：

•       Applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen in good health

 

•   Age and education background:  Applicant applying for bachelor degree programs, should obtain a high school degree or above and be no more than 25 years old; for master degree programs, applicant should have a bachelor degree or above and be no more than 35 years old; for PhD programs, applicant should have a master's degree or above with academic research ability, and be no more than 40 years old. Applicant applying for the pre-college program should obtain a high school degree under the age of 23 years old

Step 1: Register at admissions.shou.edu.cn , complete the application form and submit all required application documents.

Step 2: Pay application fee of RMB 400 online.The application is not complete until you pay the application fee and submit all the required application documents.

Degree certificate and transcripts of previous education

•           High School Diploma and transcripts for applying undergraduate programs. 
•        Graduating students should provide a certificate of impending graduation Bachelor Degree Certificate and Transcripts for applying postgraduate programs.
• Copies of the original certificate with the school's official stamp and/or the signature of the principal. If the originals are not in Chinese or English, they must be translated and notarized by authorized educational institute.
• For applicants who haven't graduated, impending receipt of graduation certificate, copies of all transcripts available at the time of application are acceptable. However, official graduation certificate and transcripts of all grades must be submitted promptly after being received
• Original copies must be provided on registration day.

If applying for Chinese-taught programs, please provide HSK Certificate received within the last 2 years:

• Undergraduate program requirements: HSK 4 with a score above 180

• Postgraduate program requirements: HSK 5 with a score above 180

If you are applying for English-taught programs, please provide Certificate of IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL IBT 80 or above, received within the last two years. Students submitting any other English proficiency certificate may be asked to provide supplementary materials. Applicants whose native language is English do not need to provide these documents.

• If applied for International Bachelor Degree program or AIEN institute program, you don't need to provide any language certificate.
• If applied for Chinese preparatory courses along with Bachelor Degree program, you need provide HSK Level 3 Certificate.
• If applied for Chinese preparatory courses along with Master Degree program or Doctor Degree program, you need provide HSK Level 4 Certificate.
• Personal Statement :  

• An essay statement written in English or Chinese on one page of A4 size paper. Introduce why you are applying, describe your interest and enthusiasm for your chosen major, and how your previous studies or experiences relate to it. Describe what makes you suitable, such as relevant skills, experience, or achievements gained from previous education, work, and other activities.

1.Resume 

Written in English or Chinese, including your personal information, educational background, work or intern experience, achievements so far and other information that might be useful.

2.Research Proposal 

Written in English or Chinese, including research achievements thus far (e.g. title and abstracts of graduation thesis or published paper), reasons for choosing SHOU, study objectives while attending SHOU, future research plans, etc.

3.Two Recommendation Letter
Written in English or Chinese by 2 different professors or associate professors from previous academic institutions. Can also include work supervisors, etc.
4.Supervision Confirmation Letter from Professors of Shanghai Ocean University (optional) , 

   If there is some specific professor of SHOU agreed to accept and mentor you during the future study please fill in the Supervision confirmation letter form from the School Website.
