Founded in 1909, China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) is a comprehensive key national university directly administered by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and is one of the first universities to join the national “211 Project” and the “985 Innovation Platform for Advantageous Disciplines”. In 2017, with an important international academic influence in field of engineering, especially in the mining engineering field, the Mining Engineering discipline and the Safety Engineering discipline of CUMT were selected into the National Double First-Class Construction Disciplines. CUMT is located in Xuzhou, the northernmost city in Jiangsu province and the only winner of the 2018 UN Habitat Award for its great geographical position, pleasant natural environment and advanced city infrastructures. 1 Registration

Applications to all programs should ONLY be done online through the CUMT Online Application System: http://cumt.17gz.org/member/login.do. You donnot have to send the application document hardcopies to the university during the process of application, but all of them should be submitted for checking when you come for registration on campus.

2.Application Materials

For all degrees

•A passport photo;

•A copy of passport (the photo page) valid for more than one year;

•A copy of your final degree transcripts (written in Chinese or English);

•A copy of your final degree certificate (written in Chinese or English) & the Transcripts and the Degree Certificate in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;

• HSK-4 certificate (for Chinese-Medium programs if available);

• English language proficiency certificate (for English-Medium Program students from non-English speaking countries);

• Physical examination completed within the last 6 months (the International Student Physical Examination Form can be downloaded from http://sac.cumt.edu.cn/en/13575/list.htm and should be completed in your country);

•A bank statement;

•A non-criminal / police clearance certificate issued within the last 6 months by the local police of your homeland.

For Masters and PHD programs:

•A research proposal;

•Recommendation letters (from university of previous degree obtained);

•An acceptance letter from CUMT prospective tutor (the letter template can be downloaded from http://sac.cumt.edu.cn/en/13575/list.htm).

5 Scholarships

CUMT provides scholarships for outstanding international students who intend to study at the University.

6 English Requirements

Students applying for English taught courses should meet the English language requirement of CUMT, IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 70. If you are not accessible to the IELTS or TOEFL Test, please take part in the online Duolingo English Test, and submit the result with the application materials.

7 Medical Insurance

The Chinese Ministry of Education requires that all international students must be medically insured throughout their entire planned period of study. Students are required to purchase the Comprehensive Insurance Plan for Foreign Students online before the registration or on the day of registration. Students who do not have valid medical insurance are not allowed to register.

8 Visa Information

Students admitted to CUMT may apply visa at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in their country with admission letter and JW201/202 form. International students who will study in China for over 6 months are required to obtain an ‘X1’ Visa, which will only be valid for 30 days after arrival in China. International students must come to the International Students Division and apply for a Residence Permit within these 30 days in order to stay in China.
